Description

Get the most out of a road trip with this extended one-day tour of Iceland’s South Coast.

This tour is great for those who want to see a lot of sights but might not have time to do it over a few days.

Your day will begin as you are picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík. You will start your journey south.

Iceland’s South Coast is a popular tourist destination, and you will soon see why. The incredible changing landscapes will provide you with endless opportunities for incredible snapshots.

You will make a stop at to incredible waterfalls. The first is Seljalandsfoss.

Seljalandsfoss is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. It’s magnificent spray, and the ability to sometimes see it from 360 degrees make it look like something from a fairytale. Lucky visitors can get close to the falls when the weather is good.

The next waterfall is Skógafoss. This wide giant measures 25 meters in width and has a drop of 60 metres. The waters cascade onto the almost flat ground creating an incredible mist. On some days the mist has been known to create a double rainbow.

You will then continue south enjoying the rolling countryside, moonscape rocks, and vast seascapes. Your knowledgeable guide will be able to tell you about the incredible landscapes in detail.

You will pass the southern edge of the massive Vatnajökull glacier, one of Europe’s largest glaciers. You will also make a stop at Skaftafell National Park to take in an expansive view of glaciers, rivers and vast plains of black sand.

You will eventually arrive at Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon towards the east of Iceland. This icy wonder sits within Vatnajökull National park.   There you can witness floating icebergs and maybe even catch a glimpse of a seal or two. As the ice underwater melts faster than the ice above the surface, visitors are often treated to a special sight where a berg suddenly flips, exposing the denser, electric blue glacial ice on the underside.

Viewing Jökulsárlón is a fascinating and unforgettable experience. The stark landscape and giant ice formations give this site an almost otherworldly appearance.

You will then travel back to Reykjavík, taking in the incredible sights of the south once more.
