Description
Summary
Description
Witness the stunning visuals of Iceland's waterfalls, black sand beaches, and glacier lagoon in this 14-hour private tour of the South Coast. Travelers eager to witness the best sights will enjoy spending their day on this grand sightseeing adventure.
Your day will start in Vik at your designated pick-up point. You'll enjoy the comforts of private transportation with onboard Wi-Fi as you begin your journey to see the best of Iceland's south. There will also be stops at cafes and restaurants between some destinations during the trip.
One of the two waterfalls you'll see on this tour is the beautiful Seljalandsfoss, which can be fully encircled by walking through the cavern underneath where the waters drop. You'll find a magical view from behind the falls as you look out onto the landscape below.
The other one is the massive Skogafoss waterfall, one of the largest in Iceland. The power from the falls sprays a large amount of mist, and on sunny days, you'll find there's always at least one rainbow accompanying the sight of this astounding waterfall.
Also on the itinerary is the world-famous black sand beach of Reynisfjara, where the violent Atlantic waves wore down the coast's cliffs and washed these beautiful black sands ashore. You'll still see some of these basalt pillars standing proudly on the shoreline.
You'll also come across the Dyrholaey peninsula, famous for its amazing views, iconic lighthouse, and stone arch of the same name. Dyrholaey is also a great place to spot the migratory Atlantic Puffin in summer.
During the trip, you'll eventually end up at the Solheimajokull glacier. This ice cap is a popular destination for glacier hiking due to the glacier not being surrounded by mountains.
Completing the hike gives you a fantastic view of the South Coast.
Further on in the tour, you'll see the Vatnajokull glacier, the second-largest glacier in Europe, and an ice cap covering eight percent of Iceland's landmass. Pieces of ice that break off from this glacier eventually float down into the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon.
At the Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, you'll see these floating icebergs on full display. They are notable for their distinctive coloration of icy white and electric blue, with some having black streaks of ash from past volcanic eruptions.
As this is a private tour, you can add or amend destinations based on your interests. You can, for example, include visits to local museums such as the Skogar Folk Museum or the LAVA Center.
As the tour ends, you'll be dropped off back in Vik with plenty of experiences to remember from your unforgettable journey.
Don't miss this chance to satisfy your appetite for adventure and enjoy the comforts of a private tour away from the crowds and other tourists. Check availability now by choosing a date.
