Daily itinerary

Day 1
The staggering view from Dyrhólaey Peninsula.

Day 1 - The South Coast

Welcome to the first day of your photography workshop in Iceland. First things first, you will be picked up from your accommodation by your experienced guide and transported along the charming South Coast in a comfortable and spacious minibus. With just a solitary glance, you’ll realise why this area is immediately popular with visitors.

Your first stop will be at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, famed for the small cave that sits behind the cascading water. An accessible track around the falling water allows photography lovers the opportunity to capture this feature in a truly unique way.

A short distance away is Skógafoss, a wider waterfall that creates enormous bursts of mist as it smashes into the rocks below. Guests can choose to photograph this fall either from the base, or they can ascend the adjacent staircase to capture it from above.

Soon, you will arrive at Dyrhólaey Peninsula, an area that was once detached from mainland Iceland but is now known as its southern tip. The Peninsula provides truly staggering views over the South Coast, as well as the opportunity to both snapshot nesting Atlantic Puffins and the gigantic rock arch that sits beneath the promontory.

You will also be paying a visit to the black sand beach Reynisfjara, renown for its staggering rock formations as well as the charming nearby village of Vík í Mýrdal. Whilst here, you will have the chance to photograph both, with your guide making sure that you manage to snapshot the iconic Reynisdrangar sea stacks.

Your day will conclude with the continued journey towards Skaftafell Nature Reserve, passing black sand deserts and towering mountain peaks as you do. Once you arrive within the National Park, you will have a short opportunity to take pictures before checking into your accommodation for the night.

Day 2
Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon is one of the most beautiful places, not just in Iceland, but in the world.

Day 2 - Vatnajokull National Park I

Your second day will begin by photographing what is colloquially known as “The Crown Jewel of Iceland”, Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon. Here, enormous icebergs break away from the glacier tongue, Breiðamerkurjökull, before falling into the lagoon’s still water. Once there, they float serenely, creating a scene that is almost beyond description.

Only few minute’s walk away is the aptly named Diamond Beach, a stretch of black sand shoreline where the lagoon’s icebergs which have floated out into the open Atlantic Ocean, often wash back ashore to create a glittering, bejewelled scene.

After you have photographed Diamond Beach, you will board the minibus and be driven to another glacial lagoon, Fjallsárlón. Fjallsárlón is a smaller lake than Jökulsárlón, but its icebergs are just as numerous, providing even more opportunity to create unforgettable pictures.

You will continue to photograph this beautiful location under the Midnight Sun before it is time to head back to your accommodation.

Day 3
You will revisit a number of attractions on the South Coast during your return journey.

Day 3 - Vatnajokull National Park & South Coast

On the morning of your third and final day of this photography workshop experience, you will be taken to some of the other notable highlights of Vatnajökull National Park, these are left to the discretion of your professional guide. When your time at the national park is over, you will begin to head back to Reykjavík.

That’s not to say you won’t be making lots of other stops along South Coast in the meantime. Taking the same route back, you will have the chance to photograph natural attractions under a different light and in different conditions, adding true variety to your, by now, bulging photography portfolio.
