The best way to reach Eskifjordur or Reydarfjordur is by rental car, with travelers driving along the Ring Road or Route 1 from Reykjavik towards the east. It's best to visit in summer, as you can rent an affordable car. In winter, you'll have to rent a 4x4 vehicle to travel in the region.

Reykjavik is about a 9-hour drive from the Holmatindur mountain. From Eskifjordur and Reydarfjordur, the trailhead to Holmatindur mountain is a short drive away.
