In this 3+ hour sailing tour, you can experience quiet whale watching under full sails with the engine shut. The perfect addition to the experience is being able to witness how nature and growth in the beautiful surrounding mountains prepare for the winter season. The low autumn sun and all the mixed colours fit beautifully with exploring the whales of the bay.
The most common whales in the bay are Humpback whales and Minke whales. In the past few years, the amazing Blue whale has also been a frequent visitor. Other species also visit the bay, for example, Fin whales, Sei whales and Orcas.
Your tour will start in the operator's ticket office in the picturesque town of Húsavík, where you collect your boarding pass. With the boarding pass in your hands, you can step on board the traditional oak schooner and begin your expedition.
The company of which you will be travelling with has offered whale watching tours since 1995 and is furthermore the only one in Iceland to offer their guests the experience of whale watching while under full sails on a traditional schooner.
An old fishing boat was renovated by a team of experts. The outcome was the beautiful schooner, Haukur. A few years later the schooner with the white sails, Hildur, joined the family. These two schooners are still the most beautiful boats in Húsavík's fleet.

Good to know
It can be cold out at sea so make sure to bring warm clothes. Please arrive at the ticket office about half an hour before departure to collect your boarding pass. The ticket office is a glass building located in the center of Husavik, opposite the church. A public parking lot is located behind the church.
