Description

Witness the stunning creatures that frequent Iceland’s waters on this once-in-a-lifetime, all-year whale watching trip from Reykjavik. Nature lovers and those who enjoy being on the sea will find no better excursion than this!

Departing from the city’s Old Harbor throughout the year, you will travel on a modern, spacious vessel that boasts a range of amenities. The harbor is easy to reach if you have central accommodation, and you can arrange pick-up if staying further away. Free Wifi, a cafe/bar, indoor seating areas, large observation decks, and blankets and overalls all promise to add to your comfort and experience.

Once you set out, you’ll get to marvel over some beautiful views. The peaks of the Reykjanes Peninsula and Snaefellsnes Peninsula can be seen on clear days, as can the flat-topped mountain of Esjan. There are also no better perspectives of Reykjavik from the sea, particularly with Harpa Concert Hall in the foreground.

Once you are further into the waters of Faxafloi Bay, you will turn your eyes from the landscapes to the seas in the search for the gentle giants of the deep. You are likely to see white-beaked dolphins throughout the year, renowned for their vast pods and acrobatic behavior. Harbor porpoises move at great speed across the water’s surface, and Minke Whales, which are beautiful if a little shy. Though uncommon, you may even see orcas, belugas, narwhals, and beaked whales.

In summer, more life returns to Iceland with the migration of the great whales and puffins. In terms of the former, the spectacular Humpback Whale is the most common, a creature renowned for its dramatic breaches. Blue Whales and Fin Whales can also be spotted throughout this season.

Winter trips, meanwhile, allow you to witness the surroundings caked in snow, making for some gorgeous panoramas.

You’ll spend approximately 2.5 hours searching for and marveling over these magnificent animals before you sail back to Reykjavik.

Immerse yourself in the waters of Faxafloi Bay to see the whales and dolphins of Iceland on this awe-inspiring boat trip. Check availability by choosing a date.
