The Icelander is Viking World's most exciting attraction. It's a replica of the Gokstad ship, found almost entirely intact when excavated in Norway in 1882. The Icelander sailed to New York in 2000 to commemorate the anniversary of Leifur Eiriksson's journey there from Iceland a thousand years earlier.

The ship is made from oak and pine and has 32 oars. In the Viking era, a ship like this would have had around 70 crew members. The ship hangs in the air, so you can walk underneath it and look closely at how it's made.

Vikings of the North Atlantic tells how Vikings expanded their empire from Europe to America. This exhibit teaches more about how they traded and where they settled.
