Description
Summary
Description
Discover the highlights of South Iceland with this private tour of waterfalls, glaciers, and black-sand beaches. Travelers who want to explore Iceland's South Coast with a private guide should book this ten-hour tour today.
The tour begins at your accommodation in Reykjavik. Your private guide will collect your group in a fully electric vehicle, making this an environmentally friendly tour. You'll drive from the city and take the Ring Road toward the first stop.
Driving east, you can enjoy beautiful views of mountains, open farmland, and rivers. After around 90 minutes, you'll arrive at Seljalandsfoss, one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland and a popular detour from the Golden Circle driving route.
With a height of around 200 feet (60 meters), Seljalandsfoss waterfall is a spectacular place to visit. If you're visiting during summer, you can hike up a path and go inside a cave behind the falls to get a different perspective on this incredible location. Make sure to bring your camera to capture the view.
Your driver will then take you to another famous waterfall, Skogafoss. Skogafoss is a similar height to Seljalandsfoss but has a very different appearance as it's much broader. It's interesting for visitors to compare both during this tour.
The next stop on this private tour is the Solheimajokull glacier, one of the outlet glaciers of the enormous Myrdalsjokull glacier on top of the Katla volcano.
Your guide will lead you on a 40-minute hike to the outlet glacier's edge to see this mighty ice river up close. As you walk, you'll learn about the glacial ice and its impact on the surrounding ecosystems.
The journey continues along the South Coast when you're back in the car. You'll arrive at the black-sand beach of Reynisfjara. Its dramatic appearance is like something out of a film. It has been used in several movies and TV shows, including Game of Thrones, so you may recognize it.
You'll enjoy a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks from the beach. You can also see these stacks from the nearby fishing village of Vik, which is your next stop.
Vik is the southernmost settlement in mainland Iceland, and many travelers stop here to enjoy the picturesque setting. Vik is a great place for lunch, so you can have something to eat before you get back in the car and return to Reykjavik.
As you drive back to the Icelandic capital, you can stop at the Dyrholaey Peninsula if you have time. Here, you can see a magnificent stone arch that often has Atlantic puffins nesting on it during the summer.
Don't miss your chance to explore the highlights of Iceland's South Coast with this tour of waterfalls, glaciers, and black-sand beaches. Check availability now by choosing a date.
