On the first day of your seven-day summer package tour, you'll arrive in Iceland.

Once you reach your hotel, you can either rest up in preparation for your adventures or get to know the lively city of Reykjavik. As you are traveling in summer, you can sightsee around the city well into the night due to the phenomenon of the midnight sun.

On the fifth day of your summer vacation package in Iceland, you will take a guided tour into the Thrihnukagigur volcano, a dormant volcano in West Iceland.

Though the sites you have seen over the past four days are unforgettable, the true highlight of your week-long summer vacation in Iceland comes today with your descent into the magma chamber of the incredible Thrihnukagigur volcano.

Your guide will pick you up from Reykjavik and escort you to a lava field. You'll hike a short distance across this otherworldly terrain until you reach a mining lift amongst the basalt.

You'll be given safety gear and a briefing before you board the lift and begin your slow descent into the magma chamber. The most magnificent underground world will open up before you as you travel down the shaft.

After a volcano erupts and its magma chamber drains, it collapses on its structure. Thrihnukagigur volcano, however, did not.

Discovered only recently by a caver, it remained an enormous cavern, large enough to contain the Statue of Liberty.

The colors brought up from the magma of the earth are unbelievably vivid, shimmering reds, greens, and yellows against the black rock. Lights in the cavern will allow you to appreciate them in all their glory.

Once the lift has fully descended, you can explore the base of the chamber and marvel over its formations up close.

After making the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, only available in Iceland, you'll return to Reykjavik and have the rest of your day to make the most of the city.

There's lots of interesting architecture to explore in Reykjavik, too. Head to the top of Hallgrimskirkja church, where you'll find a viewing platform with incredible views over Reykjavik's rooftops.

You'll stay at your accommodation in Reykjavik tonight.

On the penultimate day of your week in Iceland, you'll have the opportunity to explore more of Reykjavik. Alternatively, you can take one of three exciting tours instead.

The first of these tours is a whale-watching excursion from the city's old harbor. In summer, Iceland is one of the world's best whale-watching locations, as the gentle giants of the deep migrate to its bountiful waters. 

Elusive minkes and humpback whales are most commonly spotted, although blue, fin, and killer whales are also occasionally seen.

Most of these boat trips also include sightings of white-beaked dolphins and seabirds, including puffins.

Your second option is a helicopter ride from the domestic airport in Reykjavik. After the adrenaline rush of a thrilling take-off, you'll be awed by the beauty of the world's northernmost capital from such a unique angle. 

You'll see the colorful tin roofs of the city, and its famous landmarks, such as Hallgrimskirkja Church and the Harpa Concert Hall, are even more spectacular from above.

A final tour option for today is another horseback ride in the beautiful rural valley of Mosfellsbaer just outside the capital. 

If you didn't take this tour on your second day, or if you particularly love riding, this is another beautiful opportunity to meet Icelandic horses and experience the landscapes of Iceland alongside them.

For the time you are in Reykjavik, your choices of what to do are endless. 

You can explore the boutiques on Laugavegur shopping street, watch a show at a live music bar, taste some national delicacies at a restaurant, learn about the many facets of Iceland's culture at a museum, or even visit the geothermally heated beach at Nautholsvik.

After spending as long in the city as you like beneath the beautiful light of the midnight sun, you will spend your final night at your accommodation in Reykjavik.
