Description

Set off on a South Coast adventure in style with this private excursion for up to four people. Solo travelers, couples, and small groups seeking to witness the wonders of Iceland’s nature in luxury should not overlook this tour.

There is no waiting around at bus stops for this excursion, as your guide will be able to pick you up directly from your hotel in Reykjavik. Once you are comfortable in your modern vehicle, you’ll set out for the attractions and landscapes of the mystical South Coast.

En route, you will be able to marvel over rolling countryside, geothermal areas, and even glaciers such as Eyjafjallajokull in clear weather.

The first stop you will make will be at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, a breathtaking feature that towers over 200 feet (60 meters) tall. Because of a vast cavern that opens behind it, it may be possible to encircle in dry weather for some incredible views.

Next, you will see another waterfall, Skogafoss, which stands as tall as its neighbor but is far more powerful. You can enjoy its cascade at its bottom or climb a staircase that leads to its top cliff. On a sunny day, double rainbows may even elevate your visit here.

You’ll then reach the beach of Reynisfjara, a mystical place with unusual black sands, dramatic cliffs, powerful waves, and giant offshore basalt pillars named Reynisdrangar. Local legend says they were trolls that the sun froze to stone when they attempted to steal a ship from the shallows.

While strolling through the volcanic sands of Reynisfjara, don’t forget to snap some photos, as it is the most popular black beach in Iceland.

By Reynisfjara is a beautiful village named Vik, where you can enjoy Icelandic coastal culture and find refreshments.

In the summer months, your itinerary may include visiting the enormous rock arch of Dyrholaey. Though spectacular in its own right, it is particularly renowned in this season for its massive puffin colony. These adorable creatures have little fear of people, allowing you to have up-close encounters and to take some fantastic photos.

After this, or if traveling in winter, you will begin your slow-paced journey back to Reykjavik, keeping an eye on the skies in the hope of a showing of the northern lights.

As this is a private tour, your guide will answer any questions about the places you visit and life in Iceland and make additional stops at points of interest for photographs.

Explore Iceland’s South Coast on a luxury private tour with this fantastic excursion. Check availability now by choosing a date.
