Description

Whizz across the stunning snowscapes of the mighty Vatnajokull glacier on a snowmobile with this thrilling three-hour sub-arctic adventure. Those seeking an authentic glacier experience in Europe's largest glacier should not miss this tour.

This guided tour in Iceland begins in Southeast Iceland, where Vatnajokull is located. You will meet your guides at the base camp beside Hotel Smyrlabjorg, around 29 miles (46 kilometers) from Hofn.

You need to make your way to the meeting point 30 minutes before departure. Here, you will team up with your group before you are introduced to your ride for the day, snowmobiles.

To operate and drive a snowmobile, you'll need a valid driver's license to operate one. If you don't have one but you're at least six years old, you can still join the fun as a snowmobile passenger.

Two people will be assigned to each snowmobile. If you want to ride alone, you can do so at an additional cost. You'll also receive overalls and all the safety equipment needed for your snowmobile ride.

Your guide will lead with a safety briefing and demonstrate how snowmobiles work to ensure your comfort and confidence. Don't worry, you don't need any prior experience or to have ridden one before, as snowmobiles are very easy to operate.

Once you feel comfortable knowing the basics, it's time to get onto your snowmobile and set off on your adventure.

Snowmobiling is one of the most exhilarating excursions you can take in Iceland. The fresh winds rushing against you as you race over the glacier provide an adrenaline-pumping thrill you'll never forget.

Aside from the great adventure, you will experience fantastic views across the gleaming surface of the ice and snow. Vatnajokull's outlet glaciers have vast expanses of snowy fields, ice ridges, and towering peaks.

If the weather is good during your tour, you'll also get some stunning vistas of the surrounding Highlands, which can be found to the east and south of the country.

You will stop halfway through your adventure to take photos, so don't forget to bring your camera. Here, you can have a few moments to enjoy the scenery without needing to drive.

You'll also be able to switch the driver to experience the ride as a passenger, provided both of you have driver's licenses.

Your glacier guide is a local expert, so you can ask anything you want to know about the ice caps and the surrounding nature, and they will be happy to answer.

At the end of the tour, you'll return your snowmobile to base camp and continue your South Coast holiday independently.

Don't miss this amazing opportunity to experience the beauty of the Vatnajokull glacier by snowmobile in Iceland. Check availability now by choosing a date.
