Snaefellsnes Peninsula is undeniably a real attraction it has connections to the world's major cosmic energy centres and a spectacular sea and birdlife. It is full of with many natural attractions, one after another, with its crown at the far south point of the peninsula the glacier-covered dormant Snaefellsnes volcano.  

You start the tour by being picked up at your accommodation by your driver-guide and hit the road. The drive will roughly take two-hours before your first destination at Budakirkja (Black Church of Budir). Budakirkja is a popular location for photographers.

After Budakirkja, you will visit the small fishing villages of Arnarstapi & Hellnar. Those are attractive sights, mainly to explore the unique coastline. The highlights here are the wild birdlife along the coast, a stunning ocean cliff, the Ark at Hellnar, the unusual basalt forms and beautiful ocean views.

Your next stop is at Djupalonssandur; one of Snaefellsnes's significant attractions and one of our favourite. You will reach the beach by walking from the parking lot down the Nautastigur (Bull's path). This path takes you through a lava field with giant rock formations.

At the end of the lava field, you enter the astonishing black lava pearl beach. The beach is made out of these small black smooth pebbles. Among the attraction on the beach is a distinctive lava rock called Songklettur (the Singing Rock). 

From Djupalonssandur, you can hike to Dritvik, a former large fishing harbour encircled by high lava walls. These days it is deserted and only visited by tourists. When you visit Dritvik, you'll notice the pitch black lava formations which take on all kinds of forms.

Your next destination is Londrangar, two rock pillars that stand 61 and 75 meters out of the ocean. The birdlife in the cliffs is vivid, and puffins can be seen nesting in the cliffs.

Up next on your tour is Kirkjufell, a distinctly shaped peak. Kirkjufell is one of the most photographed places in Iceland and by some opinion, enough reason to visit Snæfellsnes. Within walking distance from Kirkjufell, you have the waterfall Kirkjufellsfoss. An accessible object for photographers is to capture Kirkjufellsfoss with Kirkjufell in the background. Fans of the HBO series Game of Thrones will recognize Kirkjufell as the mountain also known as Arrowhead.

Your last scheduled stop on your tour is the Volcanic crater Saxholl. Saxholl is a real sightseeing attraction for those who do not want to hike too far. The cavity is approximately 100 meters high. The view from the top of the crater stretches as far as the Atlantic Ocean and boasts a view over the expansive, dried lava fields of Snaefellsnes.

On your way back to Reykjavik, depending on the season, you might be able to see some of the most amazing Northern Lights displays.
