Description

Behold the many wonders of the South Coast of Iceland on this intimate, small group adventure. Prepare to witness stunning coastal landscapes, majestic mountains, grand glaciers and cascading waterfalls, on an excursion ideal for anyone looking to fit as many of Iceland’s natural wonders into one, action-packed day as possible.

After getting picked up in Reykjavík City in the morning, your adventure begins as you traverse along the South Coast, passing through small towns and taking in the Icelandic countryside. Your first stop will be at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, a 60-metre drop of glacial water with its source being the visible Eyjafjallajökull. This is the infamous volcanic ice cap that so memorably erupted in 2010.

Before continuing, you will be treated to a visit to the nearby waterfall Gljúfrabúi, a hidden gem of the area. Next up is the famous waterfall Skógafoss, with a drop equally big to Seljalandsfoss but a much greater width. According to local legends, the first Viking settler in the area hid a chest of treasure in the cave behind the waterfall.

You will also have an opportunity to admire the Sölheimajökull Glacier and a small lagoon forming at it´s head. The walk to the walking platform will take you through some of the most unique and raw landscapes in Iceland.

The next stop is Reynisfjara, a black beach that has been voted amongst the top 10 most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world. Mt. Reynisfjall towers over the beach, and the stunningly eerie rock pillars Reynisdrangar rest just offshore, where the powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean crash upon them. A good rule of thumb is never to turn your back to the sea, as these waves can quickly sneak up to the shore.

After having enjoyed all of this and more, you will board the bus to head back through the amazing landscapes of the South and return to Reykjavík City. The bus has free wi-fi, so you can instantly share your adventure with your friends back home; make sure you remember to pack your camera for all the incredible photo opportunities of this journey.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to thoroughly explore the beautiful and otherworldly attractions of the South Coast of Iceland. Check availability by choosing a date.
