Description
Summary
Description
Discover the beauty of Iceland's Reykjadalur valley with this late-night hiking tour with hot spring bathing under the northern lights. Adventurers who want to see the aurora borealis from the warmth of a natural geothermal spring should book this tour today.
You'll start your adventure by making your way to the meeting point at the Reykjadalur Lodge car park at 21:00. This beautiful valley in Southwest Iceland is around 30 miles (50 kilometers) from Reykjavik.
After checking in with your expert local guide, your group will start the hike through the fantastic landscapes. The guide will give you a head torch to help you see your way during the trek. The walk is about three miles (five kilometers) each way, so it usually takes an hour to reach the hot spring location.
The word "Reykjadalur" means "Steam Valley," and you'll quickly see why when you visit the area. It has lots of geothermal activity, including bubbling mud pools, steam vents, and natural hot springs.
Once you're here, you'll be able to change into your swimsuit and start relaxing in a naturally hot river. Your guide will give you a local beer or soda while you soak in the geothermal waters.
Reykjadalur Valley is in a gorgeous secluded location. On a clear night, and if the aurora forecast is favorable, you should be able to see the northern lights in the sky above you.
Soaking in a hot pool in Iceland in the winter is a great way to warm up, but witnessing the aurora borealis above you makes this tour even more special. You'll remember it for years and will have plenty of time to take photos while you're there.
Remember that the northern lights are a natural phenomenon, so there's no guarantee they'll appear during your tour. The Reykjadalur valley is a beautiful place where you can enjoy yourself even if you can't see the lights.
Please note that this is a natural hot spring area, so there are no changing facilities at the site. Bring a large towel with you so you can change your clothes with some privacy and use it to dry off when you get out.
After a soothing soak under the northern lights, it's time to start the hike back to the car park. It's another three miles (around five kilometers) back the way you came. You can then go back to your accommodation in Reykjavik or drive to your next location.
Don't miss your chance to enjoy a late-night hike and watch the northern lights as you soak in a natural hot spring in the Icelandic countryside. Check availability now by choosing a date.
