Description

Come and join the tour that started it all in the whale-watching capital of Iceland, Húsavík. This tour provides a great wildlife adventure in Skjálfandi bay.

You‘ll start your tour by meeting up with the staff ticket office by the harbour of Húsavík, where you will collect your ticket, then board one of the old traditional oak boats. On board, you will be provided with warm overalls that will keep you nice and cosy for the next three hours.

After everything is set you'll sail out of the harbour and head straight to the spectacular Skjálfandi bay. Expected is a three-hour whale watching tour, sailing through stunning nature and exploring the great wildlife the bay has to offer. You'll be provided with light refreshments such as a cup of hot chocolate and cinnamon buns.

When whale watching started in Skjálfandi bay, the Minke whale was the most commonly sighted whale species. That has however changed over the years and now, more and more whale species are entering the bay.

Today the Humpback whale is the most common. In the past years the biggest animal on earth, the Blue whale has also been a frequent guest. Other species also visit the bay include orcas, Fin whales, Sei whales and Northern Bottlenose whales. Chances to see the White-beaked dolphins and Harbour porpoises are fairly high as well. You also likely to see puffins at the height of summer.

Come and meet the gentle giants personally. Check the booking availability by choosing a date.
