Bask in the geothermal waters of the Secret Lagoon after a thrilling Golden Circle exploration on this excellent combo tour. Those eager to experience Iceland’s hot spring culture and see the most famous sites should not overlook this excursion.
You’ll be picked up from a pre-determined meeting point in Reykjavik by your friendly guide in a modern vehicle to begin this tour and start with the sightseeing component, visiting the incredible sites of Thingvellir National Park the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall.
Thingvellir is one of the country’s most iconic locations for three reasons. Firstly, it has amazing geology, located directly between the tectonic plates. Secondly, it has magnificent nature, with forests, fresh springs, and lava fields. Finally, its history has earned it UNESCO World Heritage status, as it was the birthplace of Icelandic democracy, having been the location of the first parliament in 930 AD.
The Geysir Geothermal Area is most famous for being home to the geyser of Strokkur. With eruptions occurring every five to ten minutes, and its column of boiling water reaching over 20 meters high, it is one of the most exciting sights to behold that Iceland has to offer. The surrounding area is beautiful, with plenty more hot springs and steam vents.
Gullfoss, meanwhile, is the most famous waterfall in the country. Pouring with enormous power into an ancient valley and boasting origins in the Langjokull glacier, it is a testament to the dramatic forces that define Iceland’s nature. Furthermore, it also has an interesting history. It would have been turned into a dam if not for the work of one local hero.
After you have seen these amazing sites, you’ll head to the geothermal greenhouses of the Fridheimar tomato farm, where you can have lunch before continuing to the Secret Lagoon.
Iceland’s oldest swimming pool, this delightful spot has spectacularly warm geothermal waters and an adjacent hot spring area with a miniature geyser. There are few better places to unwind after a day of sightseeing. For kids and uncomfortable swimmers, there are flotation devices you can use. Furthermore, the changing facilities are indoor, comfortable, and clean.
Once you have fully recharged, you’ll be returned to Reykjavik to enjoy your evening.
Marvel over three amazing sites, have lunch in a geothermal greenhouse, and bask in the Secret Lagoon on this fabulous day tour. Check availability by choosing a date.
