11 Hour South Coast Tour with Glacier Hiking, Waterfalls & Black Sands with Transfer from Reykjavik
Description
Summary
Description
Join us to see the sights of the South Coast of Iceland with all the main sights condensed into a day tour.
You will visit the two famous waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Seljalandsfoss plunges 65 meters over a cliff, and you have the unique opportunity to walk behind the waterfall and feel the power generated by the masses of water. We will also walk a little further and visit Gljúfrabúi waterfall, a hidden waterfall, in the same area.
Skógafoss waterfall is the second famous waterfall, much broader than Seljalandsfoss. You will find stairs that you can climb to the top of the waterfall for a fantastic birds-eye view over the entire area and coastline and, of course, of the cascading waterfall itself.
The main attraction of this tour is the glacier hike on Sólheimajökull. You are in for a treat, whether you have been on a glacier before or not, as glacier hiking is a beautiful and adventurous activity that will make you speechless for the natural beauty of the ice surrounding you. We will supply you with all the necessary equipment, and our qualified and experienced adventure guides will give you a good introduction on how to walk on the ice of a glacier. Be prepared to be amazed by the towering ice masses moving ever so slowly down the steep mountains.
Last but not least, you will see the famous black sand beach, Reynisfjara. Some say it inspired a scene in Frozen 2 with its vast black sands. You can take a stroll along the black sand beach and see the famous basalt column caves as well as hear the ocean waves crash onto the beach. You will get a great view of Reynisdrangar rock stacks towering out of the ocean just offshore the black sand beach.
On bright days you will enjoy mesmerizing views of the surrounding volcanoes, Eyjafjallajökull and Hekla. Sometimes, you will even see the Westman Islands that are just a short boat ride away.
