This is the ultimate, unique experience, unlike any other in Iceland. Fly over Iceland combines cinema, storytelling and state of the art technology to bring you an interactive experience that will transport you to the skies above the land of fire and ice.
You will hang suspended with feet dangling before a 20-metre spherical screen. Feel the thrill of flying while film whisks you away on an exhilarating journey across Iceland. Wind, mist and scents, combine with the ride’s motion create an unforgettable experience as you experience the magic of flight.
This immersive 30-minute experience begins the moment you arrive. Before you embark on the flight ride, you will be treated to two pre-shows. These multimedia pieces explore the roles of nature and time on this tiny island in the North Atlantic Ocean. Volcanoes, Vikings, trolls and the power of Icelandic people will be your introduction to this experience.
You will first enter the ‘Longhouse.’ By the light of a crackling fire, you will listen to a tale of early Iceland, and its people brought to life by a storyteller and shadow play.
Then you will move to an immersive exploration of Iceland’s history. Lead by your guide, SúVitra, a character based on local troll legends, the forces of nature and the human spirit will come together before your very eyes.
You will then take flight. Soaring and dipping through canyons and over glaciers. An expert film crew spent over a year capturing the spirit of Iceland. From ancient ice formations and mountains to the stunning Dyrhólaey Cliffs and Landmannalaugar Nature Reserve. Sights, scents, sounds and motion will show you an Iceland you never imagined you could experience.
After exiting the ride, you will see a map detailing where you flew. Fly over Iceland also has a retail store offering unique Icelandic products like custom made troll merchandise and pictures are available at the photo store.
The ground floor of this incredible facility is also home to Kaffi Grandi. This is the perfect place to grab a bite and beverage as you process the beautiful imagery and stories you have experienced.

The entire experience lasts approximately 35 minutes. This includes the two preshow experiences by Moment Factory, the pre-flight briefing and the 8.5 minutes you’ll spend on the Ultimate Flying Ride.
Children must be at least 102cm/40″ tall in order to ride. There is, however, no minimum age.
The FlyOver Iceland experience is a gentle ride. Guests sit in chairlift-style seats and are elevated before a large, spherical screen. The visuals are enhanced by special effects, including wind and scents, to create the illusion of actually flying over the landscape. The experience is suitable for young children (must be 102 cm/40″ tall) and seniors alike. Although most people don’t experience any issues with the motion or the elevation—even those who, at times, experience such difficulties—a very small percentage of the public may find it uncomfortable, therefore, if you are particularly susceptible to motion sickness or fear of heights, you may wish to consider refraining from participating.
The experience requires standing for between 20 and 30 minutes and ascending and descending stairs. If you anticipate having difficulty with standing for 30 minutes, upon arriving at the attraction, please advise one of our Flight Guides, and they will accommodate you to the best of their ability, by providing a folding chair at certain points and minimising the number of stairs you will have to climb or, if necessary, they will assist you in using our internal lift.
Industry guidelines advise that pregnant women should not participate in motion rides. Although FlyOver Iceland is a very gentle motion ride, we follow the industry guidelines and ask expectant mothers to refrain from taking the ride.
Guests who use wheelchairs may go on the Ultimate Flying Ride only if they are able to transfer from their wheelchair to the ride seat by themselves or with the assistance of a companion. Otherwise, they may enjoy the film from a stationary position on the ride platform, accompanied by one of our flight guides. For safety reasons, in this situation, companions must go on the ride or wait off the ride platform. We ask that guests who will be arriving in wheelchairs, please contact us in advance of their visit. There is no admission fee for a companion who is accompanying a paying disabled guest.
