Description
See the amazing nature of Iceland with this super jeep tour of Borgarfjordur with Langjokull glacier. Those who'd like to mix adventure with a sightseeing tour and visit breathtaking views in Iceland should not miss this.
Your private tour begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Reykjavik. You'll also meet your private guide, who'll assist you and be your prime source of information for the tour.
The weather in Iceland can be pretty cold, so dress warm and wear layered clothing, a hat, gloves, waterproof shoes, and socks. For food, bring some snacks and a packed lunch. Also, bring a camera to take amazing photos of the nature of Iceland.
Note that since this is a private tour, it allows you more flexibility. For example, if you want to add a stop to the tour or stay in one place a little longer, you can tell your guide so they can make the proper adjustment.
Your sightseeing tour lasts up to eight hours. You'll ride a super jeep and visit some essential sights of the Borgarfjordur district, including waterfalls, glaciers, hot springs, and an ice tunnel.
Part of your adventure involves passing through the Hvalfjordur tunnel, which runs under the fjord of the same name, and is part of Iceland's Route 1.
Your guide will also take you to two famous West Iceland sights, the hot springs of Deildartunguhver and Hraunfossar waterfalls. Deildartunguhver has a high geothermal activity and has the country's highest-flowing hot spring. Meanwhile, Hraunfossar is unique because it's a series of tiny waterfall cascades flowing through a lava field.
Next to Hraunfossar is a much more rapid waterfall, Barnafoss.
One of the tour's highlights is visiting the Langjokull glacier to see an ice tunnel. Before going there, you'll stop at the village of Husafell to take your lunch. After your meal, you'll then continue your journey to the glacier.
Langjokull glacier is the second largest glacier in Iceland, next to the Vatnajokull glacier. It's also the location of an artificial tunnel leading to the glacier's heart which you'll visit through your super jeep.
Once you reach the tunnel's opening, you'll wear your crampons and follow your expert guide. Unlike other ice caves that are only possible to visit in winter, this tunnel is open all year round. This is because it's not prone to flooding in summer, unlike natural ice caves.
While inside, you'll be surrounded by blue ice that looks like crystal. Your tour guide will also tell you interesting facts about Langjokull and its tunnel.
After exploring the ice tunnel, you'll drive back to Reykjavik and pass by the waterfall in Grimsa, which is said to be the home of trolls.
Your tour ends upon your return to Reykjavik.
Explore the beauty of West Iceland through a super jeep tour of Borgarfjordur and marvel at the magical view of Langjokull glacier's ice tunnel. Check availability now by choosing a date.
