The tour begins in Reykjavik, where your tour operator will pick you up from your hotel or one of the many pickup points they offer. The pickup process is fast and efficient, so ensure you’re prepared before your transportation arrives. Once everyone’s on board, you’ll begin your South Coast adventure.
To ensure you’re comfortable during the whole tour, dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes or boots. Since this is an eight-hour tour, bring your food, drinks, or lunch money. Aside from snacks, the tour does not include other food and refreshments.
The first stop on this South coast tour is Seljalandsfoss waterfall, one of the most famous falls in the country. This waterfall is quite close to the ring road, is 200 feet (60 meters) high, and has an otherworldly beauty. You can also walk behind the waterfall and see a unique but breathtaking image from behind.
Not far from Seljalandsfoss are two other waterfalls, Skogafoss and Kvernufoss.
The first one, Skogafoss waterfall, is 197 feet (60 meters) high and has two levels where you can admire it, one on the ground and one on a platform at the top. Meanwhile, the Kvernufoss waterfall, which is half the height of Skogafoss, has its own charms, being half-hidden in a gorge.
After some Iceland waterfall hopping, you’ll head to the village of Vik, the southernmost settlement in Iceland. Vik is a fishing village where you can enjoy some local Icelandic food and do some shopping to buy some souvenirs and gifts,
From Vik, you’ll travel to Reynisfjara beach, famous for its black sands. This black-sand beach is a breathtaking sight thanks to the contrasting image of its sands with the sea. You can also see the Reynisdrangar sea stack from the beach, which is a popular subject for photos due to its two large towers.
Your final stop for the tour is at Dyrholaey, famous for its cliff and rock arch, which are the perfect location to view the South Coast. During summer, you can also see puffins and many other birds in the area.
