Description
Summary
Description
Experience both an adventure tour and an essential sightseeing excursion on the same day, with this combination of buggy riding and traveling around the Golden Circle. This opportunity should not be missed by those seeking diverse, exciting experiences in Iceland.
Your day will begin when you are picked up from the city of Reykjavílk, and taken to the buggy base camp, just fifteen minutes away. Here, you’ll get introduced to your vehicle for the morning, and be provided with all the protective gear necessary. With all briefings complete, you’ll set out into Iceland’s nature.
Please note that to operate a buggy, you need a driver’s license; anyone six and over, however, can join in the fun as a passenger.
The bumpy, thrilling route will take you around the serene lake of Hafravatn and up the slopes of the dramatic mountain Hafrafell. Once you reach its summit, you’ll be able to hop off for a few minutes to marvel over and photograph the beautiful views, of Iceland’s capital, Faxaflói Bay, and, in clear weather, the Reykjanes and Snæfellsnes Peninsulas.
Your journey will last about an hour, concluding when you descend the twisting trails down the mountain, and back to base camp.
After the Buggy tour will Safari Quads drop you off at our local partners where you will step onto the coach bus for the Golden circle adventure.
The Golden Circle is Iceland’s most popular sightseeing route, consisting of Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss Waterfall. The order you visit them will be based on conditions and the discretion of your guides.
Þingvellir is a beautiful valley that nestles between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. It is renowned for its geology, forests, and sparkling springs, but is best known for its history. Icelanders started a national assembly here in 930 AD, which has lasted over a millennium and continues today (albeit in Reykjavík).
The Geysir Geothermal Area is exactly what it says on the tin. This is one of Iceland’s best places to marvel over fumaroles, hot springs, and, of course, geysers. The most active of these is Strokkur. It erupts every five to ten minutes, and it has been known to blast water well over twenty meters high.
Finally is ‘the golden waterfall’, Gullfoss. One of Iceland’s most iconic features, Gullfoss falls from a height of over thirty meters in two tiers into a 10,000-year-old valley, carved during the last ice age. It has many viewing platforms from which guests can marvel over its scale and power.
With these sites completed, you’ll be returned to Reykjavík, in good time for a delicious dinner and a few drinks.
Don’t miss this perfect combination of sightseeing and adventure. Check availability by choosing a date.
