Private 4-Day Super Jeep Tour of Iceland with the Golden Circle & Langjokull Glacier

On the second day of your tour of Iceland, you'll visit the Golden Circle sightseeing route and the Langjokull glacier.

The first stop is the Thingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a remarkable natural and historical treasure in Iceland. Located on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, it showcases the dramatic geological significance of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, which are slowly drifting apart.

Visitors can see the Silfra fissure, where crystal-clear glacial waters fill the gap between these plates. Beyond its geological wonders, Thingvellir National Park is historically significant as the site of Iceland's ancient Althingi, one of the world's oldest parliaments, established in 930 AD.

Next up is the Geysir geothermal area in the Haukadalur valley. The great Geysir, which gives all other geysers their name, is no longer active, but the Strokkur geyser erupts every 5-10 minutes, so you'll see this during your visit.

The final stop on the Golden Circle sightseeing route is the Gullfoss waterfall. Here, the Hvita river dramatically cascades in two stages, plunging into a deep, rugged canyon with a thunderous roar. Gullfoss gets its name from the golden colors that often shimmer in its glacial waters when sunlight touches the misty spray.

You'll stop for lunch at Gullfoss Cafe, where you can try some Icelandic specialties. Then, it's time to take the super jeep off-road as you head into the rough terrain of the Icelandic Highlands to go to the Langjokull glacier. 

Langjokull glacier, translated as "Long Glacier," is the second-largest glacier in Iceland, covering an expansive area of approximately 368 square miles (about 953 square kilometers).

Here, you can also take an optional snowmobile excursion at an additional cost or enjoy the super jeep tour.

The last stop of the day is at Faxi waterfall, a charming, lesser-known waterfall. Once you've enjoyed this, your driver will return you to your Reykjavik accommodation for a good night's rest.

On the third day of your guided tour in Iceland, you'll discover the sights of the South Coast, including the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, the coastal village of Vik, and a stunning ice cave beneath the Katla volcano.

The first stop today is the magical Katla ice cave. You'll venture into the glacier's heart through intricate tunnels of brilliant blue ice sculpted by nature's forces. The ice cave's translucent walls create an ethereal atmosphere, and the light in the cave is truly breathtaking.

Spending time in a glacial ice cave is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The glaciers shift and change constantly, melting and refreezing each year. Skogafoss waterfall is another stop on the itinerary. It's as tall as the Seljalandsfoss waterfall but much broader. It plunges dramatically from the Skogar river down a cliff of dark volcanic rock. The resulting mist often forms vibrant rainbows, creating a surreal atmosphere.

Visitors can climb a staircase to view the falls from above, offering unforgettable vistas of the surrounding lush greenery and expansive landscapes.

Iceland's South Coast is known for its beautiful black-sand beaches. You'll get to walk on some of them today. You'll see the dramatic cliffs surrounding them and spot some rich birdlife.

The last stop of the day is the town of Hveragerdi. Hveragerdi is a charming town in South Iceland, often dubbed the "Hot Spring Capital of the World" due to its abundant geothermal activity.

Located close to the Golden Circle route you explored yesterday, Hveragerdi is nestled in a captivating landscape of steaming hot springs, bubbling mud pots, and dramatic geysers. Its unique geothermal resources are harnessed for heating homes and greenhouses, allowing the cultivation of vegetables and flowers year-round.

After the tour, your driver will take you back to your accommodation in Reykjavik.

On the fourth and final day of your guided tour in Iceland, it's time to head home.

If you have an early flight, your driver will pick you up after you've enjoyed breakfast at your accommodation in Reykjavik. They'll drive you to Keflavik International Airport in plenty of time for your flight home.

Check in for your flight, drop off your baggage, and then head through to departures. Look around the shops or enjoy a meal or drink in one of the terminal bars while waiting for your flight to board.

On your way back to the airport, you can add a trip to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa if you didn't have time to visit on day one. Located in a lava field on the Reykjanes Peninsula, it boasts striking azure-blue mineral-rich waters heated by underground geothermal activity.

If you have a later flight, you can spend the day exploring more of Reykjavik.
