Welcome to Iceland!

First things first, after landing, you need to pick up your car at Keflavik International Airport. From there, you will drive through the volcanic landscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula, leaving you in immediate awe at the country's untouched and undeveloped environment.

On your way to Iceland's capital city, you could stop at the Blue Lagoon. This world-renowned spa is known for its healing waters, vivid azure colors, and luxurious treatments. It is located in the middle of a moss-covered lava field, giving it an otherworldly atmosphere. If you add the Blue Lagoon, it will be arranged according to your flights.

If there is no time to visit the lagoon today, it can be added to another day. Your travel consultant will be able to arrange this for you.

There is still plenty to see and do in Reykjavik and the Reykjanes Peninsula if you have extra free time.

Once you've settled in Reykjavik, you'll have plenty of time to explore this bustling city and the surrounding Reykjanes Peninsula. Take advantage of your free time and immerse yourself in the lively downtown area, where you'll find an array of charming cafes, delectable restaurants, captivating museums, intriguing galleries, unique boutiques, and vibrant bars.

Day 2 – Southwest Iceland

  • Thingvellir National Park
  • Geysir geothermal area
  • Gullfoss waterfall
  • Kerid Crater
  • More

Today, prepare for an unforgettable journey through Iceland's most popular tour, the Golden Circle, which showcases some of the country's most famous sights.

Your first stop on the Golden Circle route is the remarkable Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This place holds immense historical, cultural, and geological significance.

Not only is it where the world's oldest parliamentary assembly was established in 930 AD, but it also offers a unique opportunity to witness the dramatic meeting point of the American and Eurasian tectonic plates. These plates have been gradually drifting apart, creating a rift valley that stretches across Iceland.

While at Thingvellir, you have the chance to embark on an exhilarating snorkeling tour at Silfra Fissure. Ranked among the top 10 dive sites globally, Silfra is renowned for its crystal-clear glacial water. With visibility that can reach an astonishing 328 feet (100 meters), you'll be awe-struck as you explore the underwater marvels and the mesmerizing colors of this submerged wonderland. Participants need to be comfortable in the water and be able to swim.

Continuing the Golden Circle adventure, you'll arrive at Haukadalur, an area famous for its hot springs. The largest geyser in Haukadalur is known as Geysir, which has bestowed its name upon all geysers in the English language.

Although Geysir has become dormant, its neighboring sibling, Strokkur, puts on a spectacular show by erupting every few minutes. Be prepared to witness jets of boiling water shooting up to heights of 66 feet (20 meters) in a thrilling display of nature's power.

The grand finale of the Golden Circle awaits only a short distance away—Gullfoss, the incredibly photogenic waterfall. Translating to "Golden Falls," Gullfoss is a breathtaking sight as it cascades down two tiers, dropping 105 feet (32 meters) into the Hvita River. Feel the mist on your face as you marvel at this natural wonder's raw beauty and power.

From this vantage point, you can embark on a thrilling snowmobile tour across the nearby Langjokull glacier or explore the region on horseback during a captivating horse riding tour.

After an awe-inspiring day, you will spend the night in southwest Iceland, where you can unwind and reflect on the incredible experiences you've had along the Golden Circle route. Rest well, for tomorrow holds even more adventures on Iceland's magnificent South Coast.

Upon arriving at the glacier, get ready for a thrilling choice between two exhilarating activities: snowmobiling or glacier hiking. Whichever option you select, get ready for an adrenaline-fueled experience that combines a heart-pumping adventure with awe-inspiring sightseeing.

Feel the rush as you zip across the glacial landscape on a snowmobile or explore the frozen wonders on foot during a glacier hike.

Continuing your journey, you'll eventually arrive at the charming fishing village of Vik, where a unique opportunity awaits. If you elect to while booking, you'll explore the hidden depths of the Myrdalsjokull glacier with an ice-caving tour.

While in Vik, take a leisurely stroll along the captivating Reynisfjara black sand beach. Admire the striking basalt columns that have formed naturally along the cliffsides, a fascinating geological marvel.

As you explore, exercise caution and maintain a safe distance from the shoreline, as the waves can be unpredictable.

Next, immerse yourself in the wonders of Vatnajokull National Park. Here, you'll have the opportunity to hike along numerous trails that wind through the sublime beauty of the Skaftafell Nature Reserve.

A highly recommended route is the 3.1-mile (5 km) path that leads to the enchanting Svartifoss waterfall.

Head to the Visitor's Centre, where the friendly and knowledgeable staff will gladly provide guidance and point you in the right direction. Wander through this picturesque landscape adorned with lush greenery and towering cliffs and be rewarded with the awe-inspiring sight of the Svartifoss waterfall, framed by its iconic basalt column backdrop.

After an invigorating hike, you'll make your final stop of the day at the crown jewel of the South Coast—the magnificent Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. Step into a paradise tailor-made for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike.

Witness the grandeur of colossal icebergs gracefully floating in the tranquil pale blue waters, creating a scene of serene beauty. Delight in the playful splashes of nearby seals, adding a touch of charm to the stillness.

Don't miss the opportunity to take a short stroll to Diamond Beach, where icebergs from the lagoon make their journey to the ocean, glistening like precious gems on the contrasting black sand.

After a day filled with remarkable experiences and natural wonders, it's time to head to your accommodation.

You'll spend the night in south-east Iceland, immersing yourself in the tranquil ambiance of Iceland's captivating landscapes.
