Description

Jump aboard for a classic Icelandic adventure, to see the Golden Circle and ride one of the nation's unique and beautiful horses. This tour combines sightseeing and adventure, and should not be missed by anyone seeking to immerse themselves in Icelandic scenery and culture.

Your tour will start from Reykjavík Terminal or you can be picked up from your accommodation in Reykjavík and your bus has exemplary modern features; it has wifi, a tablet for each guest, USB sockets, and an in-Bus Audio Guide that allows you to listen to a commentary in ten different languages. You will also have a tour guide who can help with any queries.

You will enjoy the Golden Circle component of this tour first. The first location on this famous trail is Þingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is in an incredible location, right between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. The continental movement here has created some dramatic geology, which contrasts beautifully with the verdant fields, stretches of forest, clear streams and serene lake.

Þingvellir is also steeped in Icelandic history. It was here that early Icelanders founded their parliament in 930 AD, an institution that continues to this day in Reykjavík. This makes the park the original site of the world's longest running ongoing parliament.

The next location on the Golden Circle is the Geysir Geothermal Area. This is the site of many hot springs, mud pools, fumaroles, and of course, geysers. The largest one of these, Geysir itself, rarely erupts nowadays; Strokkur, however, erupts every ten minutes or so, to heights of up to 40 metres (131 feet).

Following your time here, you will head to Gullfoss waterfall. This is the most iconic falls in Iceland, and for good reason; a vast amount of water thunders down it in two tiers, plunging into an ancient valley, and throwing off many rainbows when the sun is out. There are many viewing platforms to admire it from, including one right where the water is dropping, where you can marvel at its awesome power.

Following this, it is time to meet the Icelandic horse. Your guides on site will introduce you to your steed and gear, give you a moment to get comfortable, then lead you away to begin this part of the tour.

You will ride through meadows, lava fields, and across a small river, against a backdrop of mountains and volcanoes. The charm of your horse will quickly become apparent to you, and you will soon realise why these animals are so loved by the nation.

Following your horse-ride, you will return to Reykjavík, no doubt with some great new memories.

Do not hesitate any longer. Jump aboard, for a classic sightseeing and horse-riding adventure. Check availability by choosing a date.
